Becky & Jeremy
with Mossypossum Genova
Best of Breed
2006 ARBA Convention

Our family lives in the small town of Maple Hill, Kansas,
20 miles west of Topeka.
Our family includes me, Becky, my husband Jeremy,
our ten year old son Alex and our five year old
daughter Gabrielle.

Jeremy grew up raising and
breeding rabbits and encouraged me to get involved.
I'm very thankful for that because they have
given me a lot of enjoyment.

We got our first show Lionheads in the summer of 2005.
After much consideration we decided to focus mainly on REW, my favorite variety,
and tort, the variety we have the most depth of quality in. We also
have limited blue tort and black in our breeding herd.

We have always believed in the mantra "to breed hard and cull harder" and
this philosophy has helped us accomplish a lot with our herd in a
relatively short amount of time.

At NALRC nationals 2006, our first National show, we won Best Display REW, Best of Variety REW, Best of Opposite Sex Variety REW, and Best of Opposite Sex Variety Sable point. Then again our hard work came to fruition with a Best of Breed win at the 2006 ARBA Convention with a tortoise junior doe, Mossypossum Genova.

After showing Lionheads competitively for over a year we decided to make an addition to
our herd, so that we no longer had to sit around all day and wait to show!
Jeremy added mini rex to the herd. The majority of his show stock was
obtained from our good friend Sandra Neal.
Jeremy breeds in black, REW, brokens, castors, and has some torts as well as sable points.

The kids also decided to get their own breed, the Holland Lop.
Gabrielle's favorite variety is ruby-eyed-white, so the kids decided to focus
on REWs, torts and brokens. Of course they have some additional varieties popping up!

In December of 2005, we lost our whole herd
to a rabbitry fire. We lost over 160 rabbits that day
and it was devastating.
With a lot of hard work and prayer we forged on
and continued with our breeding, obtaining stock
back from our own bloodlines, as well as stock from
the top breeders in the Nation to rebuild our herd.
We want to offer our heartfelt thank you to
all the wonderful breeders that helped us rebuild our herd.

We traveled to Columbus, Ohio in May for 2007 NALRC Nationals
and were extrememly happy with the results!
Mossypossum Fergus was BOSV REW and
went on to sell for $650 at the live auction!
We also finished the NALRC Sweepstakes in 2006-2007
in first place, even with missing half the show season due
to our fire.

After much consideration we decided to focus our Lionhead herd to
mainly Tort, with the addition of a few REWs and Blacks.
After a new COD was added last year, we have also added Blue Tort to our herd.

We went to our first show since the fire in April 2007 at Seward Nebraska.
Jeremy won an Open Best in Show with a broken castor mini rex doe
that was sired by our broken tort herd buck who perished in the fire.
It was a bittersweet victory. We had never won a BIS before.

In 2008 we have started off competitively in our mini rex.
We attended our first Mini Rex National Show and came away
with Best of Variety Seal, as well as several top ten placements.

2008 has also started well with our Lionhead herd, with a very
nice showing at the NALRC National Show in May. We came home with
BOV Blue Tort, Best Senior and Best Junior Blue Tort, BOV Sable Point and
Best Junior Sable Point, and Best Display Sable Point and Blue Tort.
But perhaps our proudest accomplishment was the winning of the Statler's
Breeders Class by our herd buck Mossypossum Johnny Blaze. He was 1st of 21
entries in this very prestigious class.
